Maximum Heart Rate during Exercise

Congratulations on taking charge of your health by tracking your Maximum Heart Rate (MHR) during exercise! This metric represents the highest number of beats your heart can achieve per minute during physical activity. It's a crucial indicator of cardiovascular health and fitness intensity. To measure this, you will need a heart rate monitor or a fitness tracker that can capture your heart rate during intense exercise.

For maintaining good cardiovascular health during exercise, it's generally recommended to aim for 50% to 85% of your maximum heart rate (MHR). This range is known as the target heart rate zone. Here's a breakdown of intensity levels:

Moderate-intensity exercise: Aim for 50% to 70% of your MHR.

Vigorous-intensity exercise: Aim for 70% to 85% of your MHR.

The general formula to estimate your MHR is to subtract your age from 220 (for example, if you're 30, your MHR would be around 190 beats per minute). Then Heart Rate Percentage is calculated by dividing the Current Heart Rate by the Maximum Heart Rate (MHR) and multiplying by 100. For example, if you're 32, the estimated MHR is 188 beats per minute (bpm). This makes your target heart rate during moderate-intensity exercise between 94 and 132 bpm, and for vigorous-intensity exercise between 132 and 160 bpm.

Exercising within this range helps improve endurance, burn calories, and strengthen your heart without overstraining it.
